I have been working with individuals, couples and families in counselling and therapy for over 20 years. I draw on a range of therapeutic models and approaches to support and foster well-being for people in their lives and in their significant relationships. I value working collaboratively with the people who consult with me, attending to both challenges and hopes and holding the unique experience of each person at the centre of the work.
I have substantial experience working with people confronting personal and relationship issues and challenges in their lives. I hold a particular interest in working with people affected by grief and loss in relation to illness and bereavement and in working with individuals and couples confronting fertility issues, undergoing reproductive treatment and working to create families through donor conception. I welcome working with people from diverse backgrounds and communities and have experience working with people identifying as LGBTI/queer.
My orientation to therapy draws on various therapy models including systems theory, psychodynamic therapy, narrative therapy and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy). In work with couples I also draw on EFT (Emotionally Focused Therapy). I have training in the use of RET (Radical Exposure Tapping) which is a process used to assist in responding to trauma.
